Welcome to our Library Newsletter! 📚✨ We’ve had a fantastic time exploring new stories and learning about the world around us. Let’s dive into what we’ve accomplished and what’s coming up next!
TRIMESTER 2
- Kindergarten: After finishing up with Caldecott Award winning books, we learned about the Theodore Seuss Geisel Medal and read so many funny books that won this prestigious medal! 🎉
- 1st Grade: Our little readers sorted through fiction and nonfiction, learning how to distinguish between the two! 📖🔍
- 2nd Grade: We explored the Dewey Decimal System, understanding how our library is organized. Now they can start finding their favorite books with ease! 🗂️
- 3rd Grade: We wrapped up our unit on digital citizenship and enjoyed reading more books from the Rhode Island Children's Book Award! 🌟
- 4th Grade: Students began an exciting unit on National Parks, learning about the beauty of nature! 🏞️
- 5th Grade: Our fifth graders started researching topics of their choice, diving into their interests! 🔍✨
TRIMESTER 3
- Kindergarten: We’ll be reading nonfiction books about animals, discovering fascinating facts! 🦁📚 We are also excited to start reading books about Spring including plants, flowers, and gardens.
- 1st Grade: We will be working on our Fractured Fairy Tale Unit, where we will read several fairy tales and fracture fairy tales. We will also work on writing our own Goldilocks stories as a class! 🐻✨
- 2nd Grade: We’ll embark on a research adventure about dinosaurs using books and websites! 🦖🔍
- 3rd Grade: Students will uncover information about the Titanic, utilizing nonfiction texts, Worldbook Online, and our library catalog! 🚢📖
- 4th Grade: We’ll continue our National Parks unit, using nonfiction books and the National Parks website for research! 🌲📚
- 5th Grade: After selecting their topics last trimester, students will now start asking questions and conducting research, while also creating a works cited page of their sources! 📝🔍
Things to remember
Parents, please encourage your children to share what they’re learning at home! It’s a great way to reinforce their knowledge and spark discussions. Also, remind them to return their library books on time so everyone can enjoy our wonderful collection! 📅📚
