Grade 5

Thank you for continuing to send your child to school on time each day. Our classroom is a safe, accepting place where we support each other and look for each other’s positive attributes.  Your child has been working hard in cooperative groups to enhance academic content.

In MATH we have been multiplying multi-digit numbers by multi-digit numbers, and are now going into multiplication and division with decimal numbers.  If your child struggles with multiplication tables, please help to reinforce them.

In SS we have been learning about the early European settlements and the Lost Colonists, and the Jamestown and Plymouth colonies.

In ELA we continue to strengthen the vocabulary in the weekly selection on a daily basis. This practice continues to help your child achieve success on weekly assessments.  Please remind your child that he/she should be reading each night for 30 minutes.  Our next book project is due on November 24, 2025. Mrs. Volpe is reading aloud Fish in a Tree,  and Mrs. Colapietro is reading aloud True. Please ask your child to provide you with a summary.  You may even want to read the book!

In SCIENCE, we are completing our unit of Patterns of Earth and Sky.  Students will work on an end of unit assessment, as well as their district writing piece centered around the missing piece of an artifact that we have discussed in science class.
