Kindergarten

Hello Kindergarten Families! Welcome to a new month of learning and adventures!

February Recap:

We had an exciting month in Kindergarten, filled with learning and fun! Our little learners wrapped up Module 3 in math, where they explored comparing capacity, area, and sets within 10. They also dove into procedural writing, which is a fantastic way for them to express their thoughts step-by-step! In our BPS Unit 3: Construction, we kicked off our exploration of different types of homes and buildings from around the world.

In reading, we compared two versions of "The Three Little Pigs," discussing story elements in detail, learning about perspective, engaging in debates, and even writing our own creative versions of the tale! And let’s not forget our ongoing work with CVC words in Fundations, and all the fun our spellers have been having as we begin to learn new Trick Words!

What March has in Store:

Our construction unit will continue as we learn more about buildings, materials, and architecture. We can't wait for Construction Week, where we will have special visitors sharing their jobs with us! Our budding architects are eager to learn about the materials used in construction. We will also start working on opinion writing, allowing our students to express their thoughts and preferences!

Next month, we will also be diving into Module 4 in Math, focusing on Number Pairs and addition and subtraction to 10. In Fundations, we will explore digraphs and practice tapping to segment words that include them, while continuing to learn more Trick Words.

Plus, we are gearing up for some festive fun for St. Patrick’s Day with our “Disguise a Leprechaun” projects.

Things to Remember:

As we move forward, please remember to encourage your child to share their learning experiences at home. Ask them about the different types of buildings they’ve learned about and their favorite parts of the stories we read. Your support makes a huge difference!

Thank you for your continued support and enthusiasm! We are looking forward to another week of learning and fun in Kindergarten. Let’s keep the excitement going as we explore new concepts and celebrate our achievements together!

Warm regards,

The Kindergarten Team
