Kindergarten
Hello Kindergarten Families!
We’re so excited to share all the wonderful learning and fun happening in our kindergarten classrooms! This month, we’ve been exploring what it means to be part of a community and how each of us plays a special role.
In Reading, we dove into stories about community members and talked about what it means to belong and help one another. Our Social Studies lessons helped us connect even deeper by learning about our own names—their meanings, cultural roots, and why they’re so important to our identity. Math was all about numbers 0-10! We practiced writing, recognizing, and understanding “one more” and “one less,” plus explored arrays to see how objects can be grouped. In Writing, our kinders shared personal recounts, telling stories about their own experiences—what a great way to build confidence and communication skills! In Science, we have been learning to conduct observations using our five senses.
November brings new adventures! We’ll start our Animals Unit in Reading, learning about different animals and their habitats—get ready for some wild discoveries! We will be working in Module 2 in Math, where we’ll explore 2D and 3D shapes, helping kids see the world in new dimensions. Writing will shift to procedural writing, teaching students how to explain steps clearly and confidently. In Science, we’ll put our newly acquired observation skills to use as we observe and describe weather.
Things to Remember
Information regarding our Community Helpers Week will be coming soon! If you or someone you know has a job that helps our community, we’d love to have you visit and share your story with the class. It’s a fantastic way for kids to see real-life heroes in action! Also, please continue practicing number recognition and writing at home to support our math goals.
Wrapping Up with a Smile
Thank you for being such an important part of our Kindergarten community! We can’t wait to keep learning and growing together. Stay tuned for more exciting updates and keep those smiles shining bright!
