Dear families and staff,
As we prepare to return to school on Monday, February 23, we feel it is important to remember that on Monday, our neighboring communities experienced a tragic mass shooting at the Lynch hockey arena in Pawtucket during a youth game. Our thoughts remain with all those affected in the days since.
It is an unfortunate reality that incidents like this raise concerns about safety in our schools, at our events, and in our daily lives. Please know that the safety and security of our students, staff, and families is always our top priority. Our district safety officer, school resource officers, and administrators work closely with local law enforcement to maintain strong safety protocols across all school buildings and events. We also ask for your partnership. If you see something concerning, report it to a building administrator and always follow all district safety procedures.
We will continue to review our safety procedures and collaborate with local law enforcement to ensure our protocols remain strong and responsive. While we cannot eliminate every risk, we can remain vigilant and prepared.
Our schools are places of learning, belonging, and care. By working together, staff, students, families, and community partners strengthen everyone's sense of safety.
Thank you for your continued partnership in keeping our schools secure and supportive environments for all.
Sincerely,
The Cranston Public Schools Leadership Team
